Cowboy Ethics

"Everyone needs a code, a creed to live by."

1. Live each day with courage

2. Take pride in your work

3. Always finish what you start

4. Do what has to be done

5. Be tough, but fair

6. When you make a promise, keep it

7. Ride for the brand

8. Talk less, say more

9. Remember that some things aren't for sale
10. Know where to draw the line

Strength comes from within, sometimes it takes a weakness to uncover it.

My Practice, Philosophy, and Biography:

A Licensed Professional Counselor, I specialize, but am not limited to, relationship (traditional and non-traditional) counseling, individual counseling, and family counseling.  I believe in a compassionate, yet direct and honest approach. Most people are looking for straight forward help with their pain, anxiety, conflict and stress.  A direct approach is difficult to find, but leads to faster results and change...THIS IS OUR GOAL!

I understand relationships, their difficulty and dynamics, and how stressful it can be.  I have been in practice for over 10 years and married for 14 years.  I have gone through divorce, raising kids and know what it takes to make it work! I subscribe to a combination of psychodynamic theory and family systems theory approaches, having experienced them working well together, and creating a well balanced approach allowing for personalization and tailoring for every client.

Originally from the Texas Panhandle, I made my way to the Dallas area as a teen.  Growing up in the small farming and ranching town of Dalhart, I learned first hand 'Cowboy Ethics' and that a good life is founded on a code and values. I bring this philosophy into every part of my life, including my practice.  Check out the 'Cowboy Ethics' and see how they can apply to your life, relationships and commitments. Now residing in the outskirts of Dallas with my Alaskan hubby, and our two energetic and spirited (never a dull moment) teenagers, I enjoy traveling and visiting new places, and anything outdoors with my family! I love goats, gardening, hunting, fishing, and 'ranch' life.

Credentials and Clinical Work:

Starting out at Texas Tech University (GUN'S UP!) and finishing at the University of Texas Dallas, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the school of Brain and Behavioral Science.  I continued my education in Dallas at Argosy University, receiving a Master's degree in Counseling.  I am also a member of the American Psychological Association and American Psychotherapy Association.  My in-patient experience has been with children and adolescents with dual-diagnosis, including eating disorders at Children's Medical Center Dallas. My LPC internship was done right in the heart of Uptown Dallas with the amazing and creative team of therapists 'The LifeWorks Group', owned and operated by my fellow Panhandle friend and colleague, Melanie Wells LPC, LMFT, and author.
